On this page, you will find each month a new idea for teaching or for an activity with children.
"Give God a flower as a present"
What we need:
A flower for each child
A vase
- Instead of real flowers and a vase, we can also use the
flannelboard and flowers made of paper with a stripe of flannel
paper on their back so they stick on the flannelboard.

Let's go! We can use this activity during a time of praise, in order to help the children to express their thankfulness towards God. We explain the children that we want to do something nice for God because we want to bring joy to His heart. Many people feel happy when they get flowers as a present, so God will sure like this too. We give a flower to every child and put the vase before the children in a visible place. The children come to the front, one after the other, and put their flowers into the vase, as a sign that they are giving the flower to the Lord. While they are putting the flowers into the vase, each child says something to God for which he/she wants to thank Him. For example: "God, I give you this flower because you are my best friend." - "Lord, you are so great and mighty." - "God, I thank you for giving me life and health." - etc. (Perhaps the teacher should give the first examples.) Instead of putting flowers into a vase, we can also stick paper flowers onto the flannelboard. |
