On this page, you will find each month a new idea for teaching or for an activity with children.
Visual Aid: Blind Bartimaeus
This idea was contributed by my wife, Virginia Ruegg.
Bíblical Reference: Mark 10:46-52
What we need:
Cardboard, colors, glue, and a pair of scissors.
Let's start!
| 1. Draw Bartimaeus' face on a sheet of cardboard. In place of the eyes, cut two holes. | 2. Cut the figure below out of another piece of cardboard. Draw in the upper half a background in the same color as the face, and in the lower half a pair of open eyes. (Put this cardboard behind the cardboard with the face, so you can draw the eyes exactly in the correct place.) | 3. Stick a strip of paper or cardboard on the back of the sheet, in order to sustain the piece with the eyes drawn on it. That part must be movable up and down, so the eyes can appear in their place. |

| 4. When telling the story, show first Bartimaeus blind (with the empty background visible). | 5. When coming to the point where Bartimaeus is healed, move the piece of cardboard on the back upwards, so that Bartimaeus' eyes appear. Now Bartimaeus can see! |
