On this page, you will find each month a new idea for teaching or for an activity with children.
Friendship
What we need:
White or red cardboard, black cardboard
Scissors
Let's start!

We need two large hearts out of cardboard, a red or white one and
a black one. We cut them into two puzzles. We put two blackboards
or shelves in front where the children can put together the
hearts. Each puzzle piece of each heart has a word written on it.
On the pieces of the white heart, there are the words
"love", "goodness", "peace", etc,
and "Jesus". On the pieces of the black heart, there
are the words "hatred", "bitterness",
"disobedience", "lies", etc. (They should be
words the children can understand.)
We divide the children into two groups, and two adults will help
them to put together the puzzles. After finishing them, the
children sit down and a puppet or clown takes over the next part.
Ask them: What difference do you see between the hearts?
- until they mention the colors. And do you know why the
colors are different? (let them answer and then explain). For
the white one is the heart of a good friend. And what is a
friend? (let them share some thoughts). The one with the
white heart is a good friend who has love, goodness, etc, and
Jesus in his heart. And the black heart, is it the heart of a
friend? No, of course not. It is the heart of a person who
has hatred, bitterness, etc. in his heart. And which heart do
you think Jesus wants us to have? The white one, right. And
why? Because Jesus wants us to be good friends and to have
nice things in our hearts. And is Jesus our friend? Yes,
so we will stand up and sing it together. (Sing a song which
tells about Jesus being our friend.)
